ABSTRACT
Objective: The objective of the research is to determine the seroprevalence of toxoplasma, rubella, citomegalovirus, Herpes Simplex, and HIV in health personnel who practise in Gölbaşı primary health care units. Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out in 1996 on 60 health personnels including doctors, nurses, and mid-wives who were practising in 8 primary health units of Gölbaşı Health Region. Standardized questionnaires were applied to them using face-to-face interview technique, and their venous blood samples were taken. IgG antibodies against Toxoplasma, Rubella, Cytomegalovirus, Herpes Simplex, and HIV virus were analyzed by ELISA test and were assessed as antibody-positive or antibody-negative.Results: Anti-toxoplasma, anti-rubella, anti-cytomegalovirus, and anti-herpes simplex antibodies was positive in 31.7, 96.7, 80.0, and 80.0% of the study group, respectively. None of them have anti-HIV antibodies. Conclusion: The results found for seroprevalence in this study are similar to those found in other population.
