ABSTRACT
Aim: To evaluate the impact of the HELLP Syndrome on perinatal morbidity and mortality in pregnancies with severe preeclampsia diagnosed before 32.gestational week. Material and Methods: Pregnancies complicated with severe preeclampsia admitted before 32.gestational week either with the HELLP syndrome(n=24) or without the HELLP syndrome (n=30) included in the study. Both groups were compared in terms of demographic characters, maternal and fetal complications. Categorical variables were analyzed with x² square test.Continuous variables were analyzed with student t test. Results: Among demographic characters, nulliparity (p=0,019) was significantly higher in women with severe preeclampsia with HELLP syndrome than the group of women with severe preeclampsia without HELLP syndrome. No statistical significant difference was observed between two groups in terms of maternal and fetal complications. Conclusion: Before 32.gestational week, pregnancies with the HELLP syndrome is not associated with the increased perinatal morbidity and mortality compared to pregnancies with severe preeclampsia but without the HELLP syndrome.
