ÖZET
Onkolojide kemoterapi uygulanan hastalarda bir yan etki olarak oluşan bulantı ve kusmanın önlenmesi; tedavinin başarısı ve devamı için mutlaka gerekmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı jinekolojik kanser kemoterapisinde sık görülen bulantı ve kusmanın önlenmesinde bir seratonin antagonisti olan ondansetronun etkinliğinin araştırılmasıdır. Hastaların bulantı ve kusmaları ondansetron uygulandıktan sonra emetojenik cevabın uluslararası boyutlarda kabul edilmiş tanımına göre skorlanmıştır. Otuz kür kemoterapi alan sekiz hastada ondansetron uygulamasını takiben emesisde major cevap alınmıştır. Sonuç olarak ondansetron kanser kemoterapisinde antiemetik ajan olarak kullanılabilecek güvenli ve etken bir alternatiftir.

ABSTRACT
Nauses and vomiting has been a common side effect of cancer chemotherapy which may even affect the succes of the treatment. The purpose of the present study is to assess the efficacy of a new seratonin antagonist agent, ondansetron in preventing nausea and vomiting in cancer chemotherapy. Ondansetron is administered to eight patients in thirty chemotherapy cures. Emetogenic response is scored according to the internationally approved scoring system. Major, response was obtained in most of the patients. As a conclusion, ondansetron is demonstrated as a safe and effective antiemetic agent.
