Kontrol grubunda her ikisi içinde pozitif boyanma izlenmedi.
ABSTRACT
Objective: To identify the role of toxoplasma gondii and herpes simplex type 2 in placenta and decidua of spontaneous abortions with unknown etiology by using immunohistochemistry. Institution: Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Pathology, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Kayseri. Material and Methods: 40 placenta and decidua of spontaneous abortions and 10 normal deliveries were stained immunohistochemically for toxoplasma gondii and herpes simplex type 2.7 of these cases were also examined serologically with ELISA for IgG and IgM. Findings: Toxoplasma gondii was positive at 20% of spontaneous abortion materials while herpes simplex type 2 was positive 27% of them. They were all negative at normal delivery cases. Tissue positivity was 75% respectively serologically toxoplasma gondii and herpes simlex type 2 IgG (+) cases. Results: We think it is favorable to research serology and placental anti-herpes simplex type 2 and anti-toxoplasma gondii policlonal antibodies at same time to find out the etiology of abortion when we could not find out anything with light microscopy.
